These machines, known to children as tractors, were manufactured in the Ursus district of Warsaw (an independent city from 1952–1977), with each bearing a name referring to its \"homeland.\"\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe Ursus C-360, with a maximum speed of 25.4 km\/h, remains a hero of the Polish countryside to this day. You can still find offers to buy and sell the yellow giant, and there's a high probability of encountering it at various tractor parades. Between 1971 and 1985, over 650,000 units of this iconic motorcycle rolled off the production line, turning many a man in the Polish People's Republic era into a nonchalant charmer with dishevelled hair, breaking one woman's heart on the way to the next.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWSK competed with the Warsaw Motorcycle Factory (Warszawska Fabryka Motocykli), which after 1957 began to fall behind the Świdnik factory. The decline of the Varsovians can be attributed to the radical modernization and application of new solutions by WSK, which ultimately led to the closure of the factory in Warsaw. The final straw for WFM's failures was the presentation by WSK in 1964 at the Poznań Fair of the M06 version, which technically far surpassed the motorcycles of the Warsaw factory and did not differ in price at all.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe WSK M06 B3 is also the domain of the so-called \"bird family,\" which includes motorcycles named, among others, \"Gil\" (Hawfinch), \"Kos\" (Blackbird), and \"Bąk\" (Bittern). The iconic model also had sports and export versions. The last unit left the factory on October 31, 1985, and a day later, sugar rationing was abolished. Nevertheless, the Warsaw factory introduced numerous modernizations, thanks to which the Warszawa gained a newer, more pleasant image, and its body in red and white versions no longer resembled mysterious Soviet vehicles.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eProduction peaked in the late 1960s, with the highest number of cars rolling off the assembly line reaching 17,780 (1968). Its versions were improved year after year – here a strengthened front suspension beam, there reinforced tires. In 1959, the first 200 units were designated for export, with the Nysas that were destined to see a piece of the world being improved compared to those that remained permanently in the country. In 1956, the production documentation for the Syrena was finally completed, allowing the FSO (Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych) assembly lines to operate at full capacity in 1957.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe Syrena, whose name evoked the Warsaw Mermaid, was a car frequently seen in the capital. Its elegant body with streamlined curves and round headlights made it resemble Western cars, in which beautiful women in headscarves sped along the French Riviera. And although in the People's Republic the backdrop for driving a Syrena was less picturesque – though, thanks to the Palace of Culture, equally iconic – its users must have felt privileged and derived sufficient pleasure from driving it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe production of the Syrena ended in 1972. The total number of units that hit the roads over those fifteen years exceeded half a million. The car also received many critical reviews – it was accused of generating a lot of noise, having an inefficient cooling system, a lack of corrosion resistance, and high fuel consumption in winter due to the engine's thermal inertia. The name covers an entire series of Polish delivery vehicles, produced by Fabryka Samochodów Ciężarowych (Commercial Vehicle Factory) in Lublin between 1959 and 1998. The Żuk was a favorite of farmers, served postmen from Poczta Polska (Polish Post), and sometimes even played the role of a fire truck. Like the iconic Maluch, the Żuk was an everyday hero for many Poles.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe T-shirt features a 1967 Żuk, a version with a wooden cargo bed, which gave it a payload capacity of 950 kg. Other variants of the Żuk were mainly used for transporting food products or clothing, but passenger models, i.e., minibuses, were also produced. In 1970, Żuks even began to be assembled in Egypt, and despite the obvious analogy, they were not called \"Scarab,\" but Ramzes. The Egyptian ELTRAMCO factories assembled their Żuk-Ramzes until the 1990s, with many modifications introduced along the way.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe production of Żuk was halted in 1998, when the number of units released reached 587,818. And although in terms of numbers and sales it was far behind the \"beetle\" Garbus, it does not mean that it was not a car particularly serving the common man. Thanks to it, the GDR was the most motorized of the red countries.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe Trabant's body, also known as the \"cardboard Ford,\" was made of duroplast, a plastic material resistant to corrosion and crushing, while its design was inspired by Western cars, like those seen in American films. It is no wonder then that in People's Poland, it competed with the Syrena and then the Fiat 126p. The Trabant kept up with the times and gained new features; for example, in 1968, its engine was boosted to 26 HP. Nevertheless, in most cases, the GDR government rejected significant modifications due to a lack of necessary materials.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe Trabant was also intended for export – to other Eastern European countries, as well as to Egypt. Trabants were also sent to Western Europe, but its two-stroke engine became obsolete in the 1970s, which limited its trips to Western neighbors. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Trabant could no longer compete with Western car models, which performed better in every respect. Jelcz is also famous trucks, with the iconic 300 series produced between 1968 and 1992. However, before our Jelcz went into production, Jelcz Automobile Works produced its predecessor, the Żubr A80. It was a flawed model, but it had a payload capacity of up to 8 tons – it was the only Polish-made truck of its kind until then. Jelcz factories began work on a new, better-designed truck model in 1966, aiming to produce a vehicle that could carry loads weighing between 10 and 12 tons.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThus, in 1967, prototypes of the Jelcz \"300s\" were created. In the early 1970s, the payload even exceeded the dreamed-of 12 tons, allowing for the transport of 18-ton loads. Despite increasingly better results, the vehicles from Jelcz did not satisfy the manufacturers. Therefore, in 1972, the Automobile Works approached the Austrian company Steyr-Daimler-Puch with a proposal for cooperation. From then on, Austrian components were used in Polish trucks. Shortly after, due to technical difficulties, cooperation was discontinued, and Jelcz factories returned to improving old designs, thereby maintaining production until the 1990s. Sometimes a luxury model appeared with an extra passenger seat and a radio, to make it more cheerful for all the exemplary workers.
