Over fourteen years, more than 5.5 million units of the model, characterized by its \"chopped rear\" body, were produced. The Renault 5, often called Super 5 (French: Supercinque), appeared in many versions, which differed slightly in body structure, interior elements, or the nature of the vehicle itself (cabrio, van, rally model), but regardless of the version, the Supercinque proved to be a huge market success. The Renault was even loved in Great Britain, despite the eternal skepticism of the British towards everything coming from the continental side of the English Channel.
