Its design was based on the Soviet M20 Pobieda car, and then developed and adapted at the Warsaw Passenger Car Factory. The Warszawa was produced between 1951 and 1973, and from 1954 some units were intended for export.

The elegant Warszawa, with its gleaming body, inspired by machines from beyond the eastern border, resembled the ponderous cars of Soviet officials, which, though stylish, cast an ominous atmosphere around them. Nevertheless, the Warsaw factory introduced numerous modernizations, thanks to which the Warszawa gained a newer, more sympathetic image, and its body in red and white versions no longer resembled the mysterious Soviet vehicles.

Production peaked in the late 1960s, with the highest number of cars rolling off the assembly line reaching 17,780 (1968). According to some sources, these records did not include those produced for the army and militia. The largest number of native Warszawa units that sped along foreign roads went to sunny Bulgaria.

The drawing was created by Wrocław artist Paweł Grabowski.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0988/0770/9992/files/WARSZA_CZE-SCIOKU-BI_93ea90c7-7d90-45b9-a2f7-c1550775768c.png?v=1777990865
