Škoda 706 RTO

The Škoda 706 RTO was a city and intercity bus produced in Czechoslovakia between 1958 and 1972. It was developed from the earlier Škoda 706 RO model, using the same truck chassis but with a more streamlined, distinctive silhouette. Over time, the RTO became one of the most recognizable buses in Eastern Bloc countries.

In Poland, these buses were widely used by PKS (state-owned bus transport) and municipal transport companies. Comfortable for their time, they gained popularity due to their reliability and large capacity. The letters "RTO" stand for "rychlý, trambusový, osobní" – meaning fast, trambus (frame-based) passenger bus.
