Kibel, ortopeda, tyku-tyku, or perhaps żółtek? The EN57 train, with its many faces, has become a permanent fixture in the history of Polish railways. It earned this nickname due to the characteristic smell inside the vehicle, and its extremely "comfortable" plastic seats, of course available on the longest routes, contributed to its moniker "ortopeda" (orthopedist). Memories associated with the EN57 train mean there is no shortage of nicknames for it in railway jargon.

Polish railways have something to boast about — the EN57 has been dubbed the longest-produced rail vehicle in the world. Between 1962 and 1993, over 1429 units of this model were produced at the Pafawag factories in Wrocław, and modernization of individual units continues to this day.
