EN57 Regio Train

Loo, orthopedist, or perhaps choo-choo? The multi-faceted EN57 train has permanently etched itself into the annals of Polish railways. It is familiar not only to avid railway enthusiasts but also to average citizens who have been riding the "loo" since childhood. It earned this moniker due to the characteristic smell inside the vehicle, and the extremely "comfortable" plastic seats, of course, available on the longest routes, contributed to its nickname "orthopedist." Memories associated with the EN57 train ensure that railway jargon has plenty of room for its many designations.

Polish railways have something to boast about—the EN57 was named the longest-produced rail vehicle in the world. Between 1962 and 1993, over 1429 units of this model were produced at the Pafawag factory in Wrocław, and modernization of individual units continues to this day.
