The Mercedes-Benz W114 was introduced in 1968 and, according to the marketing plan of the Stuttgart manufacturer, was intended to occupy a lower market segment than the S-Class – the second of the sedans bearing the three-pointed star. The second number in the name, 250 in our model's case, indicates the engine size, which is 2.5 liters. In 1969, a coupé version was introduced, and in 1973, the W114 underwent a facelift. One of the innovations that Mercedes-Benz presented for the first time in this model was electronic fuel injection. In Germany, the model earned the nickname "Strich Acht" – referring to its introduction year, while in Poland, Mercedes fans call it "przejściówka" (transition model) or "puchacz" (eagle owl). The W114 owned by Greek taxi driver Gregorios Sachinidis, with 4.6 million kilometers on the odometer, is recognized by the manufacturer as the Mercedes-Benz car with the highest mileage ever recorded.
