Volkswagen Golf Mk II

The second-generation Volkswagen Golf first appeared in 1983, soon taking third place in the 1984 European Car of the Year awards. Despite an interior that was, at best, rather spartan, the Golf performed excellently in various conditions and provided the driver with a lot of fun – especially if it was equipped with a sunroof.

With its 55-litre fuel tank, quite a spacious boot, and room for five people, the Golf II was an optimal solution for lovers of holiday trips and excursions. Its market competitors included the Fiat Tipo and Toyota Corolla, but they had nothing that could rival its feisty character (which some call a "lack of subtlety" in terms of design), typical of Herbert Schäfer's designs.

By 1992, when production ended, over 6,300,000 units of the second-generation Golf rolled off the assembly line. The model became well-known and liked, and to this day it is a common sight on European roads. It is also often seen on nikiniki T-shirts and sweatshirts, worn by true fans of this youngtimer.
