7TP

(short for seven-tonne, Polish)

Most armored vehicle enthusiasts and admirers of Polish technical thought are well acquainted with the history of this light tank, which originated from the licensed Vickers E design purchased in 1931. Work on the 7TP took place between 1934 and 1935, during which time the flaws of its predecessor were addressed. This led to the innovative use of a diesel engine (the second mass-produced design in the world) and a large, two-man turret armed with a modern 37 mm wz. 36 anti-tank gun, while also reinforcing the armor. By the outbreak of the war in 1939, approximately 130 units had been produced. Despite their limited number, they played a significant role, even though they surpassed most enemy combat vehicles in terms of armor and armament, often decisively turning skirmishes in their favor. It holds a special place in the hearts of history enthusiasts.
